About the Product
Bilimbi (often called Irumban Puli in Kerala), botanically known as Averrhoa bilimbi, is a tropical fruit tree related to starfruit. It produces clusters of small, elongated green fruits with very sour flesh, commonly used in pickles, curries, and chutneys. Bilimbi grows best in 22 °C to 34 °C, prefers warm, humid, frost-free climates, and thrives under full sunlight. It requires 1,500–2,500 mm annual rainfall, well-drained fertile soil, and does not tolerate prolonged drought or waterlogging. In regions like Kerala, the warm temperatures and high humidity are highly suitable, provided good drainage is maintained during heavy monsoon seasons.
