**Dahlia**, scientifically known as Dahlia, is a stunning ornamental flowering plant admired for its large, colorful blooms available in shades of red, pink, yellow, purple, orange, and white. In Kerala’s climate, dahlias grow best in temperatures between 18°C to 30°C and prefer a relatively cooler environment for healthy growth and abundant flowering. They require full sunlight (at least 5–6 hours daily) and well-drained, fertile soil rich in organic matter. Regular watering is important, but overwatering and waterlogging should be avoided to prevent tuber rot. In Kerala, flowering is most prominent during the cooler and post-monsoon seasons. Proper staking, pinching, and occasional pruning help produce larger blooms, making dahlias ideal for pots, garden beds, borders, and ornamental landscaping displays.
