**Dianthus**, scientifically known as Dianthus, is a compact, colorful flowering plant popular for its fragrant blooms in shades of pink, red, white, and bi-colors with delicate fringed petals. In Kerala’s climate, Dianthus grows best in temperatures between 15°C to 28°C and prefers a relatively cooler environment for abundant flowering. It requires full sunlight (at least 5–6 hours daily) and well-drained, slightly alkaline to neutral soil rich in organic matter. Moderate watering is essential, but overwatering and waterlogging should be avoided to prevent root rot. In Kerala conditions, flowering is more prominent during the cooler and post-monsoon months. Regular pinching and removal of spent flowers encourage bushier growth and continuous blooms, making Dianthus ideal for pots, borders, rock gardens, and decorative landscaping.
