It thrives exceptionally well in Kerala’s warm and humid climate, growing best in temperatures between 22°C to 35°C and tolerating high humidity and rainfall. Heliconia prefers full sunlight to partial shade and grows vigorously in fertile, well-drained soil rich in organic matter. Regular watering is essential for lush growth, but waterlogging should be avoided to prevent rhizome rot. In Kerala conditions, flowering can occur throughout the year, especially during monsoon and post-monsoon seasons. Propagated through rhizomes, Heliconia is ideal for landscaping, garden borders, and cut-flower production due to its exotic appearance and durability.
