Sri Lankan Jasmine, commonly associated with the fragrant species Jasminum sambac, is a highly aromatic flowering plant cherished in Kerala for its pure white blooms and strong, sweet fragrance. It thrives well in Kerala’s warm and humid climate, growing best in temperatures between 20°C to 35°C. This variety prefers full sunlight to partial shade and grows best in well-drained, fertile soil rich in organic matter. Regular watering is important, especially during dry periods, but waterlogging should be avoided to protect the roots. In Kerala conditions, flowering can occur almost year-round, with peak blooming during summer and monsoon seasons. Regular pruning and timely fertilization encourage bushier growth and abundant flowering, making Sri Lankan Jasmine ideal for home gardens, hedges, pots, and for traditional garlands and religious uses.
