Mangosteen is a tropical fruit known for its thick purple rind and sweet, juicy, aromatic white pulp. It thrives in warm, humid regions like Kerala, with optimal temperatures between 25°C and 35°C, and it is sensitive to cold, not tolerating temperatures below 15°C. Mangosteen requires a humid tropical climate with annual rainfall of 1500–3000 mm, well-distributed throughout the year, and prefers well-drained, rich loamy soils. Shade during early growth and full sunlight at maturity, along with high humidity, are essential for flowering, fruit set, and good yield.
