Poly Bag Plants (RRII-430) are conventional rubber planting materials raised in polythene bags using recommended nursery practices and the proven RRII-430 clone, developed by the Rubber Board of India. These plants are widely used in traditional rubber cultivation and establish reasonably well under normal planting conditions with proper care. The RRII-430 variety is known for its stable latex yield, early tappability, and uniform girth development, making it a dependable choice for regular plantation programmes. However, in the poly bag system, the restricted container space often leads to root coiling and partial tap root bending, which can affect root efficiency and anchorage in later stages. Poly bag plants are also heavier to transport, involve plastic waste, and may show slower root regeneration and field establishment compared to advanced planting systems. In contrast, root trainer plants, especially advanced systems like Wonder Root Trainer plants, promote air-pruned roots, better fibrous root development, intact tap roots, faster establishment, and higher survival rates after planting. While poly bag plants remain suitable for conventional planting, growers aiming for better root health, quicker establishment, and long-term plantation performance may prefer root trainer–based planting materials.
